Every day, it gets harder to justify running an independent record label.
Odds are stacked against us with streaming royalties being a complete joke and the pressures of churning out content versus making space for artists to focus on their craft are suffocating. It’s been nearly 10 years since we started this thing called Grind Select and we’ve released almost 60 records since and achieved more than we could have dreamed, but there’s more days than ever where we wonder if this is meaningful or worthwhile anymore.
To distract ourselves from these negative thoughts, we were lucky to work with the amazing Casey Valentine who created a fun collage that reminds us of the zany bands and labels we were inspired by. It also nods to the genesis of Grind Select - which was simply a term we coined as kids to describe the act of randomly hitting every button on a vending machine at once (still fun).
